What is Webex's Education Connector in Blackboard?
Answer
The Webex Education Connector is a tool in Blackboard that the course's instructor can add to the Blackboard course to schedule virtual meetings to accommodate virtual participants and virtual office hours for students to book 1-on-1 appointments s with the course's instructor(s). Students should use the configured Webex link (as specified by their instructor) to join meetings, schedule virtual office hour appointments, and access recordings (if applicable).

Access Recordings
To join a meeting using the Webex Education Connector in a Blackboard course:
- Navigate to Blackboard. Log in using your YSU credentials.
- Select Courses in the navigation pane.
- Select the desired course.
- Select the Webex LTI folder as instructed by your instructor. (Note: Folder name may be different than the folder name shown below.)
Before joining a meeting, students should navigate to the appropriate Blackboard course. For instructions on navigating to a Blackboard course, see Navigate to a Blackboard Course.
- Ensure you are in the Meetings tab.
- Select Join for the correct meeting date.
- (Situational: some students may not experience this screen) The course instructor may require authentication before admittance to the meeting.
- Select ysu.webex.com.
- Select Sign In. Use your YSU credentials to log in.
- Return to the Blackboard tab in your web browser. Select Join for the correct meeting date (as done previously in Step 2).
Note: Students may encounter the below screen if the meeting has not been started by the instructor or if the student has selected the incorrect meeting date.
- Once the meeting is started, a prompt will appear. Select Open Webex to open the Webex app. To join on the web, Select Join from your Browser.

Before scheduling an office hour appointment, students should navigate to the appropriate Blackboard course. For instructions on navigating to a Blackboard course, see Navigate to a Blackboard Course.
- Ensure you are in the Office Hours tab.
- Select the date you wish to schedule an appointment for in the Select date drop down. Only dates with highlighted with circles have open appointments.
- Click Schedule to confirm your appointment.
- A confirmation page will appear with the meeting link (highlighted in red). Select Done.
Note: If desired, copy the link and paste it somewhere to reference before the appointment. A confirmation email will be sent to the student and the instructor with the meetings details, virtual meeting link, and the option to add the meeting to your Outlook Calendar. Use the confirmation email and/or calendar event (if added to the Outlook calendar) to join the meeting.
Access Recordings
Before accessing a recording, students should navigate to the appropriate Blackboard course. For instructions on navigating to a Blackboard course, see Navigate to a Blackboard Course.
- Ensure you are in the Meetings tab.
- Select the Completed tab in the Meetings options.
- Select Recording for the appropriate recording.
