Question
How do I save my Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Recordings to Microsoft Stream?
Answer
Microsoft Stream is a video hosting application that resides on your OneDrive. You can create and host videos from multiple sources using your OneDrive. You can download a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recording to a video file (.mp4), save it to your computer, and then import to your OneDrive using Microsoft Stream. You will be able to use Microsoft Stream to manage access to the video, edit the title/description, and collect analytics.
Blackboard Ultra
Upload a video to Microsoft Stream
- Navigate to the Blackboard course that contains your Collaborate Ultra recording.
- Under Details & Actions, click the 3 dots next to Class Collaborate and select View all recordings.
- On the screen showing your recordings, browse through your recordings.
Once you find the recording you want to download, click the Recording Options button (3 dots) to the right of the recording, and then click on Download. Depending on your settings, your web browser will download to your designated download location or prompt you to save to a location on your computer. Either way, the file will be saved as an mp4 and identified as “Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Recording” with the date/time of the recording in the file name.
- Go to office.com and login with your YSU email address and password.
- Click the 4 square menu at the top left. Select Stream. Note: If you do not see Stream, click All apps to locate Stream in the app list (alphabetical order).
- Once you are at the Stream dashboard, you will see several menu functions and any videos you have access to. Click Upload to browse for and select a video to upload from your computer or device.
Browse for the location of the video. Once you find the video, click Open.
The video will now upload and process in Stream. Depending on the size of the file and your Internet connection speed, this process can take anywhere from seconds to several minutes or longer. Do not close your web browser until the process is complete.
4. Once completed, you can view your video and make changes to the title and description:
1. Click the share button as shown below to get the link or distribute. You can also adjust the video permissions. Here is more information: Sharing Your Videos.
2. Click the title text to change the name of the video.
3. Click in the text area to add a description to the video.
Your newly uploaded video will also appear on your Stream Dashboard. Click on the title to view the video page and make any desired changes.
