How do instructors setup and assign General Education badges in their Blackboard course?

This process only applies to YSU General Education Microcredential courses.
Blackboard Course Folder - General Education Badges
- The folder "General Education Badges" will be added to all YSU courses that are part of the General Education Microcredential offerings. Please do not delete this folder and containing modules.

- Instructors are not required to create an account with Parchment Digital Badges. Assigning the grade in the Badge Completion Assignment triggers the badge assignment in Parchment Digital Badges.
- The folder contains the following modules:
- Student Account Creation Process - KB Article outlining how students create an account and access their earned badges.
- Instructor Access and Badge Assignment Process (this article)
- Credentials - Link to Parchment Digital Badges LTI integration.
- Badge Completion Assignment - Hidden Assignment used as a trigger to assign badges to students who pass the course.
Badge Completion Assignment
- At the end of the semester, verify the Final Grade column in the Blackboard Gradebook has been filled out accurately for each student before continuing.
- If a student COMPLETED the course with a passing Final Grade, Enter a "0" in the grade column to trigger the automated badge assignment.
- If a student HAS NOT PASSED the course, do not enter any score in the Badge Complation Assignment.

- The badge will be assigned to each student next time the Blackboard course and Parchment Digital Badges sync (automatically a few times a day). If you need to force a sync, click on the Credentials Module and click the Update Now link in the middle of the screen.
