Question
How can I obtain the transcript for videos hosted in Vidcast?
Answer
Vidcast provides automatic transcribing of your videos. This is especially helpful for ADA compliance. The transcript will display to your audience on the side of your video and as captions if they enable captions on the Vidcast Player. As a UDL +1, you can also use the transcript to create text based material such as user guides, companion documents, documents for screen readers, and much more.
To obtain the transcript for any of your Vidcast videos, please take the following steps:
1. Login to Vidcast at www.vidcast.io.
2. Click Library on the left side menu.
3. Select the video in which you wish to obtain the transcript.
4. At the video page, you can access the Transcript from the right side menu. Hover over the right side menu, and then select Transcript.
Note: If you just recorded or imported a video, it will take several minutes to process the transcript. If you do not see a transcript, check back after 15 minutes.
5. The video transcript will now display. Click Copy Transcript to copy the transcript text and paste into the word processing software of your choice.
Note: If you need to edit your transcript, click the Edit button below the video player.
Once at the Edit Video screen, click Transcript on the right side. Click anywhere in the transcript to edit the text. If you make any changes, be sure to click Save.
After copying the text of your transcript, you can paste into your favorite Word Processing Application:
Form here, you can format the document as desired to create companion guides, user guides, and other alternative format documents.
