How to Request the Purchase of a New Computer

How do I request the purchase of a new computer?

Answer

Use this set of instructions to request the purchase of a new computer. Use this only for NET-NEW computers.

  1. Navigate to Hardware Purchase New Computer: Request Service, or enter from Technology Support Portal.
  2. Sign in with YSU Login ID and password, if prompted.
  3. Click Purchase New Computer button on the right side of the screen.  
  4. You will be prompted to fill in the following fields:
    1. Person Requesting the New Computer: Enter name of the person submitting request.
    2. Building where the New Computer will be installed: Enter building where new computer will be installed.
    3. Room where the New Computer will be installed: Enter the room number where the new computer will be installed.
    4. Acct/Dept: Enter name of the Account or Department.
    5. FOAP-Fund: Enter Fund number from the FOAP.
    6. FOAP-Orgn: Enter Organization number from the FOAP.
    7. FOAP-Acct: Enter Account Number from the FOAP.
    8. FOAP-Prog: Enter Program number from the FOAP.
    9. Select the requested type of computer: Dell or Apple.
    10. After selecting Dell or Apple, choose the details of the new computer, such as Computer Model #, Monitor Type, and Keyboard/Mouse Type.
    11. Specialty Software: Enter Specialty Software to be installed on the new computer.
    12. Data Stored on YSU Approved Network Storage: Select Yes if data is stored on YSU approved network storage, or select No if stored locally on computer.
  5. Click Request.
  6. A confirmation page will appear when request is submitted successfully.
