Q. What is Rosetta Stone?

A. Rosetta Stone is a computer-assisted language learning (CALL) program that uses images, text, and sound to teach words and grammar in over 30 languages. 

Q. What courses can integrate with Rosetta Stone?

A. Currently only Official YSU World Languages courses are eligible to use Rosetta Stone. 

Q. As an instructor, how do I setup Rosetta Stone in my course?

A. World Language department faculty that would like to use Rosetta Stone should contact the Chair of the department to discuss access. 

Q. Is there a status webpage to check if Rosetta Stone is experiencing issues?

A. There is no status page, but the Rosetta Stone Support Page may provide information through searching their support articles. 

Q. What steps should be taken to report or fix an issue with Rosetta Stone?

A. The Rosetta Stone Support Page provides support articles to address common issues. Any denied access issues should be reported to your course instructor so YSU IT can verify your security access to Rosetta Stone. 

Q. What documentation and training materials are available for Rosetta Stone?

A. Students can follow these first time use steps: 

  1. Inside your Blackboard course, click on the module associated with Rosetta Stone. 
  2. If you get a message that you are not authorized or blocked from using Rosetta Stone, please contact your instructor and they will contact the IT department to resolve the access issue. Since adding and dropping courses is common at the start of the semester, the course rosters may not be in sync with access to Rosetta Stone. 
  3. A new tab will open asking you to pick the language you would like to learn.This should be the language of the course you are taking. 
  4. The Organization SSO Code is: youngstownstate
  5. Once you finish the setup, you should be taken to a main page for Rosetta Stone. 


     
  6. If you would like to use the mobile app, verify your email is correct in the lower right textbox and click the Send button. 
  7. Check your email and you should receive instructions and links to the app.
