How do I use the Self-Service app on my YSU Mac?

YSU iMacs and MacBooks come pre-installed with the YSU Self-Service application as part of our management platform. This app lets you install other applications without the need of an administrator's username and password. Please follow the steps below to access the YSU Self-Service application on your YSU Mac.

If you are instead using a Windows device, there is an app called Company Portal that has similar functionality. Please see this article here for details: Windows 11: Company Portal

1. Once you are logged in to your device, locate the Self-Service app with its red "Y" icon that looks like the YSU logo.
   • In your dock:
     
      
   • In Finder (either click the Finder icon in your dock or choose Go > Applications from the top toolbar):
     
      
2. When you open the app, give it a moment to load, then you'll be on the Home tab.
   • Home tab:
     
      
3. Using the left sidebar, click on Catalog to view all the available apps you can install.
   • The apps should be sorted alphabetically by default. This can be changed using the drop-down menu in the top right of Self-Service.
   • You can also use the search feature if you know the name of the app you want to install. 
      
4. When you find an app you would like to install, click the Install button and wait for the installation to complete.
   • In this example, we are using Audacity, but as seen in the image above, there are a ton of other apps available for install.
     
      
5. Apps you choose to install from the Self-Service will install like any other app and will be accessible from your dock or in Finder.
   • Reminder: You can choose Go > Applications from the top toolbar to see your currently installed applications.
