How to Reset the Browser on a Mobile Device (Clear Cookies/Cache)

Overview

If you are experiencing issues with your mobile web browser, we recommend clearing the cache/cookies in your browser. 

Clearing your web browser's cache, cookies, and history may remove data such as the following:

  • Saved passwords
  • Address bar predictions
  • Shopping cart contents, etc.

Please Note: Clearing the cache and cookies in your browser may remove some settings. For example, saved passwords, history, your default home page, and saved website-handling information will be removed. Your bookmarks should not be affected. 


How do I reset the Google Chrome browser on my Android device? 

1. Launch Google Chrome. 

2. Select the Menu button located in the upper right corner. This menu appears as 3 dots in a vertical line.

3. Select the Settings option from this drop-down menu. 

4. A new tab will open displaying the settings options. Scroll down and select Privacy

5. Select the Clear browsing data option. 

6. Verify the following options are selected/checked. 

  • At the top, verify that Time Range is set to All Time. (If not, use the drop-down option to select All Time.) 
  • Ensure Browsing History is selected via the blue check mark. 
  • Ensure Cookies and Site Data is selected via the blue check mark 
  • Ensure Caches images and files is selected via the blue check mark. 

7. Click the Clear data button in the bottom right of your screen. 

8. After the reset completes, close and reopen your Chrome browser for the changes to take effect. You have finished resetting your Google Chrome browser.

How do I reset my Safari browser on my iPhone / iPad? 

For phones older than the iPhone X and iPads with versions before iOS 12:

1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone / iPad.

2. Select Safari from the settings options. 

3. Scroll all the way down to select Clear History and Website Data.

4. Select Clear History and Website Data to confirm your selection. 

5. Force close the Safari App and restart for changes to take effect. 

 

For an iPhone X or later, or an iPad with iOS 12:

1. From the Home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.

2. Swipe right or left to find the Safari app.

3. Swipe up on the Safari app's preview to close the app.
