How to Connect Android Devices to YSU_WiFi

Question

How do I connect my Android device to the YSU_WiFi network?

Answer

Note: When connecting any device to the YSU_WiFi network, it is strongly recommended that the following security precautions be taken to protect your data and ensure maximum compatibility:

  • Make sure that any updates for the operating system well as any software updates on the device are installed.
  • Set a screen lock passcode or password on your device.
  • If the device runs a security and/or antivirus suite, make sure that only one suite is installed and that it is current with the latest definitions.
  1. Tap on the All apps button or go to the App Drawer.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi (Wireless & Networks on some devices).
  4. Verify that Wi-Fi is On (usually via a slider or check box).
  5. Tap the YSU_WiFi network to bring up the connection settings for it.
  6. Enter the following settings for the YSU_WiFi network:
    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
    • CA certificate: Set to DEFAULT
    • User certificate: Set to DEFAULT
    • Identity: Your YSU username
    • Anonymous identity: Leave this blank
    • Password: Your YSU password
  7. Click Connect after all of the above settings are correct.
  8. Verify connectivity. After a few seconds, the YSU_WiFi network should be Connected and the set up is complete.
