How do I use the Phish Alarm feature in Outlook?

Report Phishing Emails with One-Click

 

You can report phishing emails with one easy click directly in Outlook (desktop application or the online version) using the PhishAlarm® email reporting button.  The PhishAlarm reporting button will submit the email to our phishing tools and return confirmation on the legitimacy of the threat.

If you do not see the Phish Alarm Button, follow the steps to make it easily accessible.

Locating the Report Phish Button in the Outlook Desktop Application

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. If using the simplified ribbon, click the drop-down arrow on the right hand side.
  3. Select “Classic Ribbon” from the menu.

  1. Once using the classic ribbon, the button will appear on the right hand side as shown below.

  1. Navigate to the Penguin Portal.
  2. Log into Office 365.
  3. Open the settings menu.

  1. Select “View All Outlook Settings”

  1. Choose “Customize Actions” from the menu on the left.

  1. Scroll down and make sure the box next to “Report Phish” is checked under the “Message Surface” options.

  1. The Report Phish button should now appear in emails as shown below.

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Open an email.
  3. Click the Report Phish button to report a suspicious email.

After the Phish alarm Button is selected you will receive a verification notice that the suspicious Email was sent for analysis.

 

Report Phishing Emails in the Outlook Web Application

 

  1. Navigate to the Penguin Portal.
  2. Log into Office 365.
  3. Open an email.
  4. To report it as phishing select the Report Phish Email Button.

After the Phish alarm Button is selected you will receive a verification notice that the suspicious Email was sent for analysis.
