How To Forget Then Reconnect To YSU_WiFi

How can I forget and reconnect to YSU_WiFi?

Answer

If you are having any issues connecting to the YSU wireless network, YSU_WiFi, you may just need to "Forget" the network and reconnect to it.

Windows 11

Disconnecting ("Forgetting"):

  1. On your taskbar in the bottom right, there is an area called "Quick Settings" that hosts several options like WiFi, battery, volume and more.
  2. Click on the panel area to open to full menu then choose the right arrow on the WiFi option to Manage WiFi Connections.

  3. With your mouse, right-click on YSU_WiFi network.
  4. Select Forget from the menu.

  5. Wait a moment then try reconnecting,
     

Reconnecting:

  3. Click on YSU_WiFi then click the Connect button.

  4. Enter your YSU username (everything before the @ in your email) and your Portal password.

  5. If you see the message, "Continue connecting? If you expect to find YSU_WiFi in this location, go ahead and connect." Click the Connect button.

  6. You should now be reconnected to YSU_WiFi.
  7. If you are still having issues, please contact the Service Desk at 330-941-1595 or submit a service request.

 

MacOS

Disconnecting ("Forgetting"):

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left then chose System Settings.

    •  
  2. Choose Wi-Fi from the left sidebar.
  3. Select the three dots next to YSU_WiFi then click Forget This Network.

  4. When asked to Forget the network, click Forget.
  5. It may ask for your Mac's username and password.
     
  6. If that option is greyed out or doesn't work, scroll down to the bottom and click Advanced...
  7. Select the three dots next to YSU_WiFi then click Remove From List.

  8. When asked to Forget the network, click Forget.
  9. It may ask for your Mac's username and password.
  10. Once forgotten, click Done.
     

Reconnecting:

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left then chose System Settings.

  2. Choose Wi-Fi from the left sidebar.
  3. On the Wi-Fi tab, navigate to YSU_WiFi​​​​​​​ then click Connect.

  4. Enter your YSU username (everything before the @ in your email) in the "Account Name" box and your Portal password.

  5. Press OK and it should then say Connected at the top of the WiFi menu.
