How can I start, schedule, or join a Webex meeting from the desktop app?

Answer

The Webex desktop app provides quick and easy links to Start a meeting, Join a meeting, Start a Meeting on Your Calendar, or Schedule a meeting.  This article will discuss how to use these feature. 

Download the desktop app

You must first download the Webex desktop app to perform the steps listed below.  When the app is available, click the Meetings tab Meetings icon in the webex app  to view the image below.

Start a meeting

1a. Click Start a meeting to start a meeting in your personal room space.   A personal room space is identified as https//:ysu.webex.com/meet/username.

2. Click the green Start meeting button to begin a meeting.start meeting button

Join a meeting

Join a meeting by selecting a host from the directory. 

1. Type their name, username or meeting ID in the meeting information search box.

2. When you have located the host's meeting space, click Join located to the right of their meeting information.

NOTE: You will be joining a personal room space.  Please verify with the host the location of a scheduled meetings.  The host may have used an option to schedule with a unique link and not the Personal Room link.  See Schedule meeting below for details.

Schedule a meeting

A scheduled meeting enables a host to schedule a meeting for a later date.  This option also allows for choosing the Personal Room space or a unique meeting link.

1. Click Schedule a meeting.

2. The Schedule a meeting application enables you to add a Topic, Invitees (by name or email), Date and Time, Meeting link, Password, Description, and Invitees* for the meeting. Advanced settings are also available to adjust device connections and other details. Please see below for details on Advanced settings.

*NOTE: Invitees search tool is connected to the YSU directory of Webex account holders.  You must have the email address for invitees who do not have a YSU account with Webex.

3.  After entering your meeting information, click Schedule located at the bottom of the screen (not pictured here).

Advanced settings

Advanced settings enables hosts to set an Audio Connection and determine Scheduling Options. These features are intuitive.  Please select them as you desire.

Start a Scheduled Meeting from the Webex Calendar

A meeting which is scheduled in Blackboard or through Outlook should appear in your daily calendar inside the Webex App.  

1. Click the Start button on the calendar event which is scheduled.  The image below shows a meeting with a green tab and start button to the right of the calendar event.
