This guide will walk you through the steps required to connect to ysuwireless using a Windows 7 device. 

To configure your Windows 7 computer to connect to ysuwireless, follow the steps below.

  1. Select the Wi-Fi symbol  in the lower right side of your taskbar. 

  2. Click Open Network and Sharing Center.

  3. In the left column, click Manage wireless networks.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Select Manually create a network profile.

  6. Enter the following information:

    • Network name: ysuwireless

    • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise

    • Encryption type: AES

  7. Click Next.

  8. Click Change Connection Settings.

  9. Click the Security tab. Make sure the authentication method is Protected EAP (PEAP) and then click the Settings button.

  10. Check the boxes to Validate Server Certificate.

  11. Check the box to Connect to these servers:

    • Enter: acs5.ysu.edu;acs6.ysu.edu into the input field.

  12. In the Trusted Root Certification Authorities: box check Go Daddy Root Certificate Authority – G2.

  13. Verify the Do not prompt user to authorize new servers or trusted certification authorities. box is checked.

  14. Verify the Enable Fast Reconnect box is checked.

  15. Click Configure

  16. Uncheck the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password box. 

  17. Once the settings have been confirmed, click OK on these two dialog windows to return to the ysuwireless Encrypted Network Properties window and move to the next step. 

  18. Click Advanced settings.

  19. Make sure that Specify authentication mode is checked and select User authentication from the drop-down menu.

  20. Select the Save credentials button and enter your YSU Directory Account (MyYSU) Username and Password into the username and password fields on the Save Credentials window.

  21. Once the credentials have been saved, you may click OK on all open windows and click Close on the remaining. Manually connect to a wireless network window. The connection should automatically start.

  22. It may prompt you to Set Network Location. If prompted, choose Public Location, and then select Close on the remaining window if setting a network location was required. 

  23. When fully connected, the Wi-Fi symbol  on your taskbar should be white, and if you hover your mouse over this icon, it should display ysu.local Internet Access

  24. You are now connected to ysuwireless on your Windows 7 device.
