What is the YSU Skills Accelerator and how to I create an account, log in, or reset my password?
Answer
The YSU Skills Accelerator is an online community of learning designed to accelerate development of in-demand industry skills centered around advanced manufacturing, information technology, and professional business skills.
Through a connected education experience, the YSU Skills Accelerator provides individuals and corporations easy and affordable access to a robust catalog of in-demand skills training and stackable industry credentials.
Create an Account
Follow these steps in order to create an account.
- Open https://ysu.geniussis.com/ in a web browser and click on the Create Account button.
- A Registration from will open on the next page. Fill out the following information:
- First Name: Your first name.
- Last Name: Your last name.
- Email: Your personal email. If you are associated with YSU, please DO NOT use your @ysu.edu or @student.ysu.edu email address at this time.
- Phone: Your personal phone number.
- Street and Street 2: Your house number and street name. Use Street 2 if more information is needed for your address.
- City: The city associated with your home address.
- State: Select the state for the address from the pull down menu. Select "Other" if located in another country.
- Country: Default is United States, pick alternate country if required. Select Unknown if country is not listed.
- Zip Code: Zip Code associated with your home address.
- What county do you live in?: Select from the list of counties local to Ohio and YSU. If not listed, pick "Other".
- What is the highest degree or level of school you have completed? If currently enrolled, highest degree received: Make selection from pull down menu.
- What training areas are you interested in learning about?: Select the most desirable area from the list that applies to your learning.
- Employer/School: Enter the employer or school you are currently employed or attending.
- Age: Enter the age group you fit into. Select "Prefer not to say" if you do not want to select one.
- Ethnicity: Select ethnicity from the list. Select "Prefer not to say" if you do not want to select one.
- YSU College Affiliation: Select the YSU college associated with your major. Select "Alumni" if you graduated and are currently not taking courses or "N/A" if you did not attend YSU.
- Gender: Select gender from the list. Select "Prefer not to say" if you do not want to select one.
- Funding Source (INTERNAL USE ONLY): Leave blank.
- Click Register if you agree to the Usage Terms on the page link.
- Once registered, you will be taken to the GeniusSIS Dashboard. You will also receive an email to your registered email account with a link to the GeniusSIS login page, your Username and Temporary Password. The next Section outlines changing your password.

Changing your initial GeniusSIS Password from inside the GeniusSIS Learner Dashboard
- Log into https://ysu.geniussis.com using the username and temporary password provided in your email.
- NOTE: If you have a special affiliation with Workforce Development, you may see the following message. If you do, click on the "click here" link and log in again on the webpage using the same username and password.

- On the Genius Learner Dashboard, click on Edit Account in the left side menu.
- Check the box for "Change my password", then enter your Old (current) password in the blank, then enter your new password and confirm the password in the blanks. Click Save to change your password.
Changing your password using forgotten password reset
- From https://ysu.geniussis.com click the link Recover your password
- Enter your username and email address for your account.
- If you are not sure what the username is for your account, log into your email and reference the initial account creation email.
- If you are not sure which email address was used to create your account or you can't find the initial account creation email, please contact the YSU Service Desk at 330-941-1595 and support staff will assist with the process.
- Once username and email address are entered in the blanks, click Request Password and an email will be sent to your email account with a new temporary password.
- Log in with your username and password then follow the instructions in the above section "Changing your initial GeniusSIS Password from inside GeniusSIS Learner Dashboard".
