Alternatives to Printing/Copying

  • Publisher content shared through companies like Pearson and McGraw-Hill can be distributed via Blackboard or file sharing services like OneDrive. Most of the major publishers offer digital copies of textbooks, that often include online companion content to enhance student learning, for purchase or rent.

  • Fact sheets from departments can be distributed by a sharing link from OneDrive.

  • Use a Xerox copier to scan directly to OneDrive for further distribution using a file sharing link. Scanned documents must be made digitally accessible prior to distribution.

  • Digitally accessible content in an online file can be played as audio using e-readers, a feature becoming more preferred by students.

  • Students may choose to print their academic content using their page allotment from the University each academic semester. Should they require more print pages, they may request more from their department chair.

  • If a large print job is necessary, a better alternative is to submit a request to Printing Services. Printing Services is open from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For questions, contact printing services at printingservices@ysu.edu.

ITS offers training and consultation services to help you digitally transform your printed content. You may also request a consultation using the IT Training Services Bookings calendar to explore the alternatives.

Contact the IT Service Desk at (330) 941-1595 or IT Training Services to support your transition to printing fewer pages.
